If you are attending the first session hoping to make some quick progress, you may be left frustrated. Although you want answers, this session is about gathering information and setting the stage for progress. It's important that you feel comfortable speaking with me. I will be asking you questions about your life, your background and your current situation such as why you are attending session(s).
As you're digging into emotions that you may not even know you have, you might feel worse than before. This is a completely normal experience. Part of my role is to make sure that you are not completely overwhelmed by your feelings. As we continue to talk, you will start to feel relief and those difficult feelings might not pop up as often or come out in unhealthy ways.
Things that will be discussed during your final session include your feelings about counselling ending, a review of your goals, similar challenges you may be facing and how you will handle future situations that may arise.

Walk and Talk Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves walking outdoors while talking about issues and problem solving. Depending on your preferences, I can also include mindfulness strategies that you can practice at home.
